Student Success Lasts a Lifetime

"I love Community In Schools of Hampton Roads because they actually have a relationship with you. My site coordinator, Ms. Sydney was always there even when I was no longer at her school. She s in touch with me, encouraging me. Because of her, I graduated high school early and will be joining the military." ~ Miyzaki Edmond, CISofHR Alumni

Our evidence-based model connects students to caring adults and community resources to transform how they see and experience the world around them. By surrounding them with a network of trust they can turn to no matter where they are in their journey, we empower students to confront and overcome personal challenges and structural barriers—so they can take charge of the future they want for themselves, their communities and each other.

  4. Marketable skill to use upon graduation.
  5. Chance to give back to peers and community.

How We Do It

Using proven strategies we connect local resources to schools and students. We connect schools with community resources through our school-based site coordinators.

  • Working directly with schools in 6 cities, CISofHR builds relationships that empower students to stay in school and succeed in life.
  • Our school-based staff partner with teachers to identify challenges students face in class or at home and coordinate with community partners to bring outside resources inside schools.
